Meet our expert team

Ben

Ben has spent the best part of 20 years running after discovering he was terrible at football as a teenager. Over the years he has been prevalent on the Lancashire running scene and has managed to represent England on a couple of occasions in the marathon. Current pb's stand at 2hr 19:22 for marathon, 1hr 43:19 for 20 miles and 65:27 for half marathon. Ben has worked in the industry for over a decade and is a UK Athletics Level 2 coach. Whether you're an experienced runner or starting out aiming for your first 5k, Ben and the team have a wealth of knowledge and experience to help.

John

has served twenty years in the food industry as a chef and then greengrocer before his ten year love affair with running recently led to a new career with Up & Running. Working alongside Ben he is keen to pick up on the technical side of things from the maestro himself. John's passion is for off-road running, particularly on the fells, although it could be argued some of his best performances have been on the road. Currently Blackburn Harriers' Fell Team Captain, a spate of minor injuries has plagued John's progress the last few years but since joining Up & Running has taken a fresh approach to training and hasn't given up hope of notching some course and distance bests again.

Elizabeth

Since starting running five years ago I have completed changed my life. I have lost over six stone in weight and won the battle with depression, both of which I feel are major achievements. Since starting running and joining Accrington Road Runners I have completed three marathons, the first of which was the Loch Ness Marathon and that great sense of achievement at crossing the line was awesome and has spurred me on since. I'm a Level 3 Personal Trainer and I am in my last year of a Sport Fitness Foundation Degree. I also take much pride in being run leader for a local running group and also part of the charity Running4CF group. I enjoy helping those along who don't believe in themselves and watching them each week progressing, especially when they cross the finishing line which is a great feeling
