Meet our staff

Pam has excellent knowledge of female-specific accessories and is a very keen runner who started her running career in the Army aged 17, clocking 9:30 for the 1.5 mile battle fitness test. Pam coaches local juniors, has successfully completed the Great North run, and will be racing this summer over 5K and 10k

Andrew works part-time which allows him to focus on his running as he aspires to become a full-time athlete. He has clocked 3:45 for the 1500m on the track and recently came 15th in the English National XC Senior race at Alton Towers out of a field of 1200, definitely an athlete to watch out for in the future.

Mic is the Darlington store manager and has been an active coach since 1982 and currently coaches junior and senior athletes at grass-roots level. Mic's passion for coaching is evident when dispensing the best advice to customers looking for running shoes and apparel.

Informed opinion from our knowledgable staff and key customers ...

Garmin 610

The 610 GPS features Touch Screen Technology, although this isnt the first time Garmin have ventured into this area, the 610 performs brilliantly in the biggest down-pours.

Building on the Forerunner 305 and 310 functionality and GPS Satellite Aquisition performance the 610 picks up the signal normally inside 45 secs if one is outdoors and quicker on a clear day.

There are the normal multi-screen functions available, with user specific functions for those who must know their training stats second by second, auto scroll thru of the *windows* was excellent and has three user options.

The 610 has the excellant *Where To* - *Back to Start* Navigation function that has helped a couple of my customers find their way back to their cars when caught out in low cloud or fog when training on the North York Moors.

Downloading the training data is the same as the 310XT, which is via the Garmin Wireless ANT system, and loading it onto a PC/Laptop with Garmin Training Center installed is very easy, most athletes can normally manage to do this without too much trouble.

All-in-all a excellant bit of kit and I am sure once the word gets out it will become firm favourite with runners and cyclists alike.

Brooks Ghost 4

Brooks have a real winner with the Mens and Womens Ghost-4 Running Shoe, weighing in at 314grams for a UK 8 shoe it features a beautiful soft sock-liner and super comfortable heel-counter, allied to its Curved Last and Flex Groove forefoot design this is one of the most comfortable and responsive shoes that I have worn.

Designed for the Neutral runner, the shoes curved last really helps the transition from heel to toe if a runner is a heel striker and if mid/fore-foot this provides an excellent *crash-pad* for initial footstrike.

I have used this shoe for faster paced running and interval sessions, as well as grinding out longer miles, and I recommend this shoe to the senior athletes I am coaching for distance up to the marathon.

I would rate this shoe 5 of 5 for comfort, responsiveness, support and cushioning, the shoes colour-ways are easy on the eye as well.

Brooks also produce this shoe in junior sizes and have not scrimped on the junior shoe , and this makes for a great shoe for juniors just coming in to athletics / running.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS moderate support shoe has been a World Class winning product for 10 years, I think that they may well have another winning product for the next 10 years in the Brooks Ghost.

So come down, get your Gait professionaly analysed , and if your a Neutral footstrike it could be the Brooks Ghost-4 may well be the shoe for you!

They also produce a Goretex version of this shoe the GTX so you now have better opportunites to train even if the great British weather trys to stop you.
