Meet our staff

Darran Bilton - Manager

Darran has recently joined Harrogate Up & Running after acting as Assistant Manager at our York branch for 3 years. Qualified as a UKA Coach Tutor and Sports Massage Practitioner, he dispenses the highest levels of advice. He has represented Great Britain in the marathon & cross country and carried the Olympic Torch on June 18th after winning his age category for a record 6th time in the London Marathon (plus, he commits a great deal of time supporting local charities). He loves the fact that running is a sport available to all & can advise on training & kit for all standards & all budgets.

Dominic Busby

Dominic is a life long runner who, as a youth, represented Scotland in the 800 metres. A son of Harrogate, to hear him enthuse about the various running routes in the area inspires you to put on a pair of trainers & go out for a run!

Ian Rowbotham

Ian has been with Harrogate Up & Running for some years. Yet his enthusiasm for encouraging those new to running is still refreshing. An off road specialist, Ian has won many National prizes in fell running including his age category in the BOFRA Championships. He takes groups out from the Harrogate Hydro & from Ripon. Like Darran, Matthew & Dominic, he is a running 'nut' with an encyclopaedic knowledge of running shoes & apparel.

Dylan Bourke

Dylan is a well respected team member at Harrogate who loves to run, yet who's strengths lie in his knowledge and enthusiasm for technical apparel and running shoe technology. Dylan is a keen walker, cyclist and lover of the great outdoors!
Laura Kirk

We are delighted to welcome back Laura, who was based at our store in Leeds before she decided to dedicate her time to studying podiatry and physiology. She has been convinced to join the team at Harrogate to augment the skill base of this stores expertise. Laura is a very keen and talented runner, too!

Doctors without Borders Marathon Challenge

Up & Running Harrogate is proud to support Andy Dennis a HDU Intensive Care Nurse & Jonathan Walker owner of Gambaru Fitness in their marathon challenge. On Friday 13th April they will running a marathon each on treadmills in the window of Gambaru fitness opposite Up & Running. All money raised will be going to 'Doctors without Borders'. If you are passing why not call in and lend you support.

Gait Analysis

It's important that your running shoes fit correctly: our trained staff can help find the right shoes for you: in a short session on our treadmill they can do a video gait analysis using sophisticated Dartfish software.

Find out more about gait analysis at UP & RUNNING.

NB if you would like to enjoy the full benefits of our gait analysis system and shoe-fitting service, please arrive at least half an hour before shop closing time.
