Take the guesswork out of buying your next shoes ...

Up & Running Swansea is staffed by runners who have a wealth of experience in all types of running.

Why should we buy our shoes from a specialist running shop?
We believe that buying shoes from anywhere other than a specialist running shop is a false economy. Our service is all about injury prevention; making sure that you have the right shoe will certainly help reduce the risk of getting a running injury and help prevent ankle, shin or knee pain.

As one esteemed runner once said - "The cost difference between an ordinary pair of trainers and a good pair of running shoes wouldn't pay for 30 minutes with a physiotherapist!"

How do we get the right shoe?
Why not come in the shop for expert advice and the use of our RAM (Running Analysis Machine) equipment to find the right shoe for you? The RAM equipment consists of a treadmill and digital video camera connected to a laptop which contains state of the art sports analysis software.

We video you running in a neutral shoe initially for about 10 seconds and then analyse your running style. The software enables us to freeze frame or play in slow motion for accurate diagnosis.

Because we record the clip, you can see for yourself what your running style is like. When you try other shoes we can record a further clip and you can see the difference for yourself. We even let you try running in the shoes outside if you wish.

Our Stock
Our stock levels are second to none. We have literally hundreds of shoes in stock at any one time, plus they come in half sizes. Not only will we ensure that you get the right type of shoe but that you will also be able to try on a large selection from all the leading running manufacturers so that you get the shoes that actually fit the shape of your feet. Comfort is everything and the last thing that you want to be worrying about when you're out running is how your shoes feel! Please note however that some shoes are seasonal – spikes for example. If you are looking for a specific product please phone to check we have it before travelling!

Don't forget, our shoe fitting service using RAM is free when you buy from Up & Running Swansea. There's no need to make an appointment, just pop in anytime and let us take the guesswork out of selecting your next running shoe. The service can take up to 30 minutes so please consider this when planning a visit to the shop.

Clothing and Accessories for running and for the gym
We also carry a huge range of specialist clothing including Ronhill, Gore, Odlo, Pearl Izumi and Helly Hansen. Our accessories include GPS and Heart Rate Monitors from Garmin, Polar and Timex together with other essentials such as water bottle carriers, elastic laces and energy foods plus many other goodies!

Running Injuries – Rehabilitation Research
Study by The Hartshorn, Clarke and Associates Clinic, Swansea
Volunteers Required!
Local Swansea Osteopaths, Steve Hartshorn and Dave Clarke are holding a Sports Injuries Clinic on Wednesday afternoons and evenings as part of an ongoing sports injuries research project. At the current time, they are focusing more specifically on injuries sustained by runners and are seeking runners with existing injuries who would be prepared to participate in this study. Presently they have only approached Up & Running, as part of their ongoing relationship. In return for your participation Hartshorn, Clarke and Associates will offer treatment at 50% reduction of the standard price, which equates to £15 per visit.

Our staff know their stuff! Here are some of their reviews of the latest running kit, and some old favourites ...

Tried and TestedBuffs

I first came across this multi-function piece of kit 3 years ago and it really is a must for any runner. It has so many uses - a headband, beanie, as a mask to protect you from midges whilst cycling, sweat band, also great for keeping neck warm when worn as a neckerchief. You can make a nice pirate style hat with it as well!
A big thumbs up from me !!

Local Runs

One of Simon's favourite runs is along the coastal path between Mumbles and Caswell Bay, a real feeling of achievement especially when done in gale force winds and torrential rain (apparently!)

We're very interested to hear what your local favourites are so that we can share them - please email us the route and we'll make sure that you get your name credited on the website!
