Altra Torin 7: A winter-ready running shoe for anyone
Callum, Up & Running Edinburgh
First impression
I was fortunate enough to receive a pair of Altra’s classic road running shoe the Torin 7. Now in its seventh iteration the Torin is a great encompassment of what makes Altra one of the most exciting and unique running shoe brands on the market. Featuring the brands signature balanced cushioning and natural foot shaped toe box the Torin is a great option for getting the miles in this winter.
Fit and sizing
I took the Torin for a run straight out the box and had no issues with hotspots or breaking the shoe in. I found the fit true to size (UK size 9.5) and the plush tongue combined with a breathable engineered mesh upper provided supreme comfort.
Cushioning and feel
I tested the Torin out at various distances including easy recovery runs and up to 16 mile progressive long runs. The excellent balance of lightness and cushioning make the Torin a great option for those looking for one shoe to ‘do-it-all’. The Altra EGO Max foam kept my legs feeling fresh throughout runs and also felt responsive enough to pick up the pace if desired.
Altra benefits
I really enjoyed the smoothness and freedom of stride that is offered by Altra's signature balance cushioning. As someone who regularly wears Altra shoes I can also testify to the longer term benefits in strengthening the foot, ankle, and, achilles. These benefits would also extend to anyone looking for a lifestyle or gym shoe.
I would thoroughly recommend the Torin 7 for anyone looking for a well cushioned and comfortable running shoe this winter.
